While we all love to travel, and experience the foods, tastes and smells of distant places, cultures and foods - we forget that we have an abundance of untouched native foods that are yet to be discovered, right here at home.
From the tactile Saltbush leaves to juicy Karkalla tendrils and dewy, crystal Ice Plant there's an Australian native to bring back delight in your cooking (and weekend tipple).
But we wouldn't just pick anything.
We've spent the last decade traipsing across Australia, on our own green, native food adventure. Foraging, this and that, in sampling the true tastes of Australia. And from our journey we discovered that not every apple tastes as sweet.
Just like we cultivate the tastiest raspberries, pick our favourite apple varieties and tend to the sweetest salad leaves, we discovered that Australian Natives also blossom from the care of horticultural expertise and love. With this in mind we picked the most tastiest and succulent native food plants, joined with a collective of experienced, like minded horticulturists and set about growing a hot house full of the tastiest Australian natives. And thus The Native Co was born.
While it's been one big adventure (with lots of trial and error and eating in between), we finally have a collection of select native foods that are grown for Australians, by Australians. Our hot house is full to the brim of tasty, native treats we just want to share with our neighbours and the world - so you to can start your own green, native food adventure.
